Theme: Forgiveness & New Beginnings

New Year Testimony

Glory to God. This New Year testimony was shared by one of our community members who asked to remain anonymous.

Towards the end of last year, she joined the Marriage Matters conversations where we spoke deeply about forgiveness, reconciliation, family wounds, love, and healing. At the time, her heart was heavy. Pain from the past — especially unresolved issues within her close family — had quietly shaped her emotions for years.

She explained that some family relationships had been strained for a long time, and even though she tried to “move on,” the hurt still showed up in her emotions and reactions.

As the new year began and we discussed the theme of new beginnings, something shifted. She testified that the conversations from Marriage Matters helped her greatly. Through prayer, reflection, and gentle encouragement, God gave her the grace to forgive those who had hurt her — and to begin rebuilding peace within her family.

“Be kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving each other, just as in Christ God forgave you.” – Ephesians 4:32

During the festive season, something beautiful happened. Family members who had been distant came together. For the first time in a long while, there was warmth, laughter, and a calm atmosphere. She said it felt like God “softened hearts” and opened a new chapter.

“See, I am doing a new thing! Now it springs up; do you not perceive it?” – Isaiah 43:19

We give God all the glory for the power of His Word, and for how He continues to use Marriage Matters to bring healing, forgiveness, and restoration to families.

Theme: God of Impossibilities

Breakthrough Testimony

One of our fathers in the faith shared a testimony that left everyone in awe of God. During the last sessions of the year, our topic was on Impossibility — that with God, nothing is truly impossible.

We reflected on how God can rewrite any story, and we used the birth of Jesus as a reminder that what looks “unlikely” to people is still completely possible with God.

During that session, this father said something honest: “Where I live, it’s not a common thing for someone to gift another person a car. It’s very unlikely.” But he chose to believe that God can do what men cannot do.

And then, in a way only God can arrange… that very day, someone surprised him with a car as a gift. He came back on the next session to testify, full of gratitude, saying this was a clear reminder that God can lift a person beyond what they think is possible.

“For with God nothing shall be impossible.” – Luke 1:37

May this testimony stir faith in your heart: the God who did it for another can do it for you too.

Growth Testimony

During one of our sessions on temperament, a respected leader in the house shared a testimony and asked that we keep it anonymous.

He said the teaching was “really for me,” because it helped him finally understand why certain things people do can trigger annoyance — and why patience is not just a nice idea, but a necessary discipline.

He opened up about how unmanaged temper can cost a person opportunities. At a point in his life, he received a very good job appointment — an opportunity he described as one of the best he had ever gotten. But because he struggled to control his reactions, he ended up leaving that role.

With humility, he said he is learning that even when you feel you are right, uncontrolled anger can still deprive you of important doors God is opening for you. He shared this as a warning and encouragement, especially because he is not a young person — he is in his late fifties — and yet he is still choosing to grow.

“Everyone should be quick to listen, slow to speak and slow to become angry.” – James 1:19

His testimony reminded everyone that self-control is not weakness — it is strength. And with God’s help, change is possible at any stage of life.
